2005 - The Gringas Do Emily

Denise was unavailable for the 2005 drive down and was replaced by Kathy as co-gringa. This time Lena flew into Dallas, Texas, to pick up an old 4x4 truck from a dealer, then met Kathy in Austin. Being that Kathy was on a tight schedule, they rushed south and ended up driving through the tail of Hurricane Emily as they descended north-eastern Mexico. Due to time constraints they drove straight through to Belize, non-stop, which made for a rather bizarre and frightening trip.

Immediately after the escapade Lena lost touch with Kathy, whose memory, photos and permission is necessary to develop a proper travelogue of this trip. Until contact can be re-established, regretfully, this is all there is.

The truck was named Emily.
